New Thinking: The Melbourne School of Design

Design is a unique way to think and to learn incorporating many of the elements of science, art, humanities and technology. Designers conceptualise problems and identify the means to address them in distinctive and creative realms of intellectual activity.

The University of Melbourne is leading this new thinking through the new The Melbourne School is Design - the first graduate school devoted to the habitable environments in the Asia-Pacific region.

This seminar presented by Professor Tom Kvan, Dean of the Architecture Building and Planning faculty, outlines the opportunities and the programs in the Melbourne School of Design.

Music at Melbourne

From the specialised pre-professional training option of the Bachelor of Music degree to study options for the complete beginner, there are many different ways for students studying ‘New Generation' degrees to include music in their university experience.

Music at Melbourne includes the Bachelor of Music, covering sequential degree and Honours options, the Diploma in Music (Practical) and Music as Breadth options ranging from ensembles such as Melbourne University Symphony Orchestra, Gamelan and Famous Opera Choruses to academic subjects such as Close Encounters with Music in Melbourne, Music Psychology and Riffs: Discovering the Acoustic Guitar.
